Naheed Nenshi awarded 2014 World Mayor Prize

Calgary Mayor beats out 25 finalists for the honour

CBC News Posted: Feb 02, 2015 1:25 PM MT
Last Updated: Feb 02, 2015 5:22 PM MT

The award aims to raise the profile of mayors worldwide by honouring those who have served their communities well by governing openly and honestly, and those who made significant contributions to cities nationally and internationally.

"All I try to do is be very authentic, be real with people and just focus on working hard on making this community a better place, just like everyone else in the community. So I'm super happy about it, but I'm a little bit overwhelmed by the whole thing as well."
Nenshi was chosen over 25 other finalists for the honour. He said he's looking forward to using the platform the recognition will bring to the city.  "I think it gives us a lot of great visibility, it gives us the opportunity to talk about what we're doing here in Calgary on a national and international stage, which is always important for us, particularly in these tough economic times," he said.

Finally got my business kit from Rodan & Fields.  Started using the *Reverse* and love the way it makes my skin feel.  If anyone is interested in purchasing the products or becoming a consultant, please email me at  debilawrence1@gmail.com

New Brunswick weather: 60 cm of snow blankets Maritimes

Blowing snow advisory in effect for southeastern New Brunswick on Monday, conditions to improve gradually

CBC News Posted: Feb 16, 2015 6:10 AM AT Last Updated: Feb 16, 2015 11:44 AM AT
Several highways in southeastern New Brunswick remain closed on Monday, along with the Confederation Bridge between New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.

Digging out from 60+ cm of snow!
  • OMG...from Saint Paul, NB  How would you even begin to tackle this!
    Bigger Blower might be required!

Hubby went to Red Deer & Lethbridge Branches last week and working on heading to Medicine Hat & Cranbrook shortly.  I worry about him driving during the winter but since the Main branch doesn't support him, he has to do this to earn a decent commission.
We have to work the next two weekends...OMG...doing inventory! You would think they would have a modern system for such a big company rather than doing this manually!

Have a great week everyone!  Be safe!  God Bless

PS:  no idea why there is a white background on this post!

Work has been interesting to say the least.  On Friday morning two of the Sales Reps that work upstairs with hubby, quit!  One guy said to me "I have better things to do and better places to be"...Personally I think management needs to wake up!  This will make well over 50 people leaving in a one year span!  And you wonder why I am looking!

Toronto weather warning as 'Super Bowl storm' arrives:  **posted for the J's!

Warnings

12:14 PM EST Sunday 01 February 2015
Winter storm warning in effect for:

  • City of Toronto
Hazardous winter conditions are expected.

A developing winter storm over Missouri is tracking towards Southern Ontario. Snow associated with this storm has already begun across southwestern Ontario and will spread eastward today reaching the Greater Toronto Area by early evening. The snow will continue into Monday morning.

For areas south of a line from Sarnia towards Hamilton, total snowfall amounts of 20 to 30 cm are likely, with the highest amounts near the Great Lakes. North of this line from Huron - Perth towards the Greater Toronto Area, total amounts will likely be near 15 cm.

Over all regions, winds will strengthen and become gusty this afternoon and evening, reducing visibilities to 0.5 km or less in blowing snow. The combination of snow and blowing snow will make for hazardous travelling conditions. These persistent winds will generate wind chill values of near minus 25 tonight and into Monday.

The worst conditions are generally expected tonight.

Southern Ontario could see snow and blowing snow on Sunday as a winter storm arrives from Colorado.
