How does this work...+20 C yesterday....colder today +7 cloudy and heading higher next week. Weather person calling for +25 C by Wednesday!  OMG...you can get 4 seasons in one day here!

Monday is our DEMAND day as hubby calls it!  NO PAY Day. We are forced to take one day a month off with no pay now because the oil & gas industry here is bad!  I talked to a guy from Shell Jacobs yesterday...lots of cut back and people being let go.  A number of projects they had on the go have now been cancelled.  He said he didn't know what, if anything, he was coming back to after his vacation next week.


We are off to the Travis Tritt concert tonight...hubby got us tickets for Valentines Day and the concert is tonight.  We have floor seats so I am real excited.  He has always been one of my favorite country stars, someone I could always relate my life to!  Corny but true.

Next Sunday hubby is off to New York...LightFair 2015.  I hate to miss it but need to save my vacation for our VI.  We need to get hooked up with RCI and start planning 4 weeks vacation....before we loose points.  I have Christmas off so will plan something for then and probably another 2 weeks sometime in October.

Work, hectic as usual...another person quit so a few of us are over worked and swamped.  Some days I can't even get lunch.  This week we were real short staffed, only 4 of us there instead of 9! The others didn't even call in...just did a no show!  I think they got written up but not positive.

What will this week hold???????????

Another new week coming, what's going to happen this week I wonder?  Seems our lives are in 24 hour cycles at the moment...give us 24 hours and things seem to change dramatically!  

Hubby is off to BC for the Lighting Sales conference on Monday and will be back home Friday night!  Going to be a looooooooooooong week!  Miss him terribly when he's gone.  He's my best friend and the only person I know here (other than people at work who we don't hang out with).

And we are told to cut expenses and take a day off without pay!

The first week of May he's off to New York for LightFair 2015!  A quick stop in Toronto to see Mum and family on the way back and check out the house in B'ville!  I told him to take pics of the place.  Good news, I read that the housing prices in Durham are steadily increasing....is this because of the 407???  Gotta wonder!  Forgot to mention that Philips Lighting is taking people to the top of the building where they drop the ball for New Years Eve!  Think he's excited to see this!

The condo had it's yearly spring clean up this week and the first trim of the grass yesterday.  Sure is nice to have the "rocks" gone...they use rocks rather than salt on the roads out here...= lots of broken windshields!  Hubby has already has his replaced and is about ready for another one!

Work is same old same old...3 of us almost walked out on Friday, we are all so overworked.  We have to take one day a month off without pay but the 3 of us may be asked to work overtime to get ahead of the game or at least try!  Does this make sense????  There are 2 women in the department that talk "baby talk" during the day and it drives me crazy!  You would think they would grow up since they are in late 20's & early 30's!

Snow but mild! Back up to +17 by Wednesday!

Thought I would post a bit of the excursion to Whitefish, MT for Good Friday!  We left on Thursday @ 9:30 AM and arrived approximately 3:00 PM.  Loooooooooong drive.  We didn't know what to expect and were pleasantly surprised!  An NO bill when we left!  That's the best part!  People were extremely friendly and apologetic that the BBQ's weren't filled with propane!  Next time!

Heading back on April 4th, we ran into snow....roads were a bit slippery in sections.  Just took our time and arrived back around 5:30 PM.  Put the stuff away and headed for the garage for a beer!

I was going to take April 6th off (Easter Monday) but the temps are going to be colder so scrap that idea...will take a day off when it's a bit warmer.  We are now told that we MUST take one day a month off without pay....they are starting with 3 months but expect it will be longer and possibility of lay offs coming as well.  THREE people have quit my department....and left behind a mess for the rest of us to clean up.  One person deleted over 5000 emails and projects, meaning we have nothing to work with and no back up!

Next Monday hubby is off to BC for a week long sales meeting...then in May off to New York for Light Fair 2015!  He will make a quick stop in Ontario to check out the disaster at Bowmanville and then a short visit with Mum.

Cooler Today but NO SNOW!

Sunday, the weather is not as nice as yesterday, +17 but much better than what the Maritimes is getting!  We've had temperatures well above normal now for over 2 weeks....a couple of days of cool then back to the double digits!  The east coast is getting hammered with a blizzard, up to 45cm of snow!

My sister got back last Friday from visiting brother in Sault Ste. Marie.  Guess she had a fantastic time and looking forward to doing it again.

I am cooking a turkey today since it is a bit cooler.  This will give us our lunches for the week as well.  Hubby is off to Medicine Hat on Tuesday for the day.  Him and his boss are NOT seeing eye to eye at the moment and he tells me he's walking a pretty tight line....he could be walked any day!

We are going to Montana for Easter weekend...arrive Thursday and back home on Saturday...that gives me Sunday to clean the house and do laundry before going back to work on Monday.

Hubby got us tickets for Travis Tritt....guess he actually knows where Calgary is...he is playing at Grey Eagle Casino April 25....looking forward to this!



Have to start working on our taxes, hopefully we'll get a decent refund this year.  Don't you just hate tax time!  Getting all those receipts, etc. together....and the government seems to have no forgiveness if you make a mistake.


Hubby got new glasses and contacts....his "Magoo" glasses will stay behind closed doors...LOL.  I need to get my pic done for my passport, it runs out in May.  Might be something to run to Wal Mart for today!

Beautiful Week Coming Up!

Sunday morning, time change, lost an hour sleep but the sun is shining and going all the way to + 15 today!  Actually supposed to be +14 or +15 all week and the rest of the month for the most part is in the double digits!  We have NO snow...yes you heard me right, we have NO snow...haven't for a long time now.

Back to work tomorrow...let the kindergarden fun begin!  I say this because I have "grown" women in my department that talk baby talk....and do as little as they can on a daily basis.  Nothing much has changed in my department....same old crap.  IF anything, things are getting worse!  I even made that statement to my boss!


I picked up my new car last Saturday...it was very hard to let the old one go but I did.  The sales rep was wonderful even surprised me with a Calgary Honda Stuffed Animal for my car.  This was by far the best experience I have ever had with leasing a vehicle. Jason was a sweetheart.  My old car is on the lot for $15000.00!  The new car has fog lights, heated seats, back up cameras, side mirror camera, bluetooth, OMG...the features are fantastic.

Still trying to find something back home...things are changing big time here...housing prices are falling and the jobs are less and less.  This province depends so much on Oil & Gas...and when the prices dropped...guess what happens...projects get cancelled or go on Hold!  I can see lay offs coming soon!  A phone interview tomorrow may change things for us...fingers crossed and tons of prayers!
